Keeping your house clean for the holidays

Designating trash type to different color bins can make it easier to sort

Getting the house ready for the holiday season can often be challenging. Many people go above and beyond with their decorations in an effort to really make their humble abode shine. However, this time of year is also known for festive holiday parties, which can have some people worried about the mess that a large group can bring to the house.

One way to make sure that waste is not left all over your house is to buy decorative trashcans and leave them in a number of rooms. Picking out waste containers made out of stainless steal can help you blend them into your normal festive décor, so you won’t have to worry about a clash in style.

Parties aren’t the only time you want to have decorative trashcans on hand. Earth 911 reports that things can get messy fast when your family starts to open their gifts. The website suggests having different waste containers set up for each mode of wrapping. That way, if you recycle, it will be quick and easy to sort and you’ll be left with a clean house as you move on to your loved ones’ abodes to spread holiday cheer.

Having trashcans made of different materials such as marble or a wood finish can help your family keep track of what goes where, such as wrapping paper in one container, cardboard in another and plastic wrap and bows in the third.
